Hello, this is Mong Travel.
One of the most popular places travelers stay during their trip to Switzerland is Interlaken. When you think of famous tourist spots in Interlaken, you might imagine high mountains like Jungfrau, First, and Schilthorn, right? But the most affordable and accessible destination, even late into the evening, is Harder Kulm — a favorite among many travelers.
From the top of Harder Kulm, you can see the three peaks of Jungfrau at a glance, Lake Brienz to the left, Lake Thun to the right, and the village of Interlaken nestled right in between.

■ How to Get to Harder Kulm
All you need to do is cross the Aare River from Interlaken Ost Station. It’s really not complicated. You’ll see the emerald-colored Aare River, and directly across, you’ll spot the funicular station.
Due to the high demand over the past few years, it’s recommended to go with some buffer time. In summer, Harder Kulm runs until 9 PM at the latest. Be sure to check the day’s schedule using the SBB app.

You’ll take a funicular to go up. The view is best from the bottom front row, but since the ride isn’t very long, it’s not a big deal. When it gets crowded, it’s best not to fuss over details — just get on as soon as you can.
Once you arrive, you’ll need to walk about 5 minutes to reach the Harder Kulm viewing platform. In Switzerland, it seems like no matter where you go, they never drop you off right at the summit — there’s always a short walk involved!

When you get off at Harder Kulm Station, you’ll find a small animal enclosure nearby. You might spot horned deer-like animals and marmots.

The view from Harder Kulm is quite similar to the Interlaken paragliding experience. On clear days, you’ll likely see paragliders soaring nearby. Honestly, you probably don’t need to do both — either Harder Kulm or paragliding would be enough to take in the view.
